It is that time of year again.
Although our pumpkin plants didn’t produce any fruit this year, we can always count on bins and bins of them at the local stores. Or visiting our local farms to get really nice big pumpkins.
As Canadians, we will be celebrating our Thanksgiving this weekend.
So it my turn to make pumpkin pies from scratch.
I don’t like using the smaller pumpkins because they don’t create much puree. So we purchased two medium sized pumpkins. I have always read that they are stringy, but the puree always comes out perfect. Below is a picture of dd8 sifting and squeezing through the ‘guts’ of the pumpkin for the seeds.
Of course with fabulous pumpkin pie, we also have to have roasted pumpkin seeds.
And now to wait until the pumpkin is ‘cooked’ in the oven, then it is puree time. I wonder how many pies I’ll get this year…
Happy Thanksgiving !!
